Holding Space for Grief, Love, and Continuation

Grief changes the way we breathe.

The way we sleep.

The way we move through a room.

The way the heart holds time.

In my work, I’ve held space for people navigating grief in many forms. Sometimes it is the physical loss of a loved one. Sometimes it is the ending of a relationship, the loss of a dream, a life transition, or the ache of realizing you are no longer who you used to be.


Grief is not only emotional. It’s energetic. It’s physical. It can live in the chest, the throat, the stomach, the nervous system. It can show up as heaviness, restlessness, numbness, brain fog, irritability, waves of sadness, or a feeling that you can’t fully land back into your life.


And if you’ve been in it, you already know this: grief doesn’t follow a timeline. It doesn’t move in a straight line.


What I want to share here is not a promise that Reiki takes grief away. That’s not how I see grief, and it’s not how Reiki works. What I can speak to with absolute honesty is what I have witnessed again and again.


Reiki can offer space where grief is allowed to be held with tenderness, rather than carried alone.


What I’ve Witnessed Through This Work

Grief is not a sign that something has gone wrong. It is evidence of love. It is a natural response to change, to loss, to the deep imprint someone leaves on your life.


And love does not disappear.


Even when someone is no longer physically here, love continues.

Connection continues.

Guidance can continue.

Protection can continue.

Healing can continue.


I have witnessed this not as a dramatic performance, but as a truth that reveals itself in the most human ways — a sense of peace that arrives without explanation, a release the body has been holding for days, months, or years, a feeling of reassurance that is felt more than understood.


When I talk about Reiki supporting grief, this is what I mean. Reiki supports the places where you feel separated from yourself, from safety, from trust, and from the possibility that love is still present.


How Reiki Supports the Body During Loss

Reiki is a gentle, intelligent healing energy that supports alignment, balance, and restoration. In a session, my role is to create a safe field, stay present, listen intuitively, and allow the healing energy to move where it needs to move.


One of the most important ways Reiki supports people navigating loss is through the nervous system.


Many people moving through loss are living with a nervous system that is on high alert. Even if they appear composed on the outside, the body is bracing. This can show up as exhaustion, disrupted sleep, anxiety, or a constant sense of being “on.”


Reiki helps the body soften out of survival mode. When the body begins to feel safe, emotions that have been tightly held can finally move through.

Sometimes that looks like tears.

Sometimes it looks like a deep exhale.

Sometimes it’s a sense of relief.

Sometimes it’s simply the first time in a long time someone feels their shoulders drop.


At times, people also experience a renewed sense of connection to themselves, to love, or to what continues beyond physical presence. I don’t force messages, and I don’t approach this work casually. I hold a grounded, respectful space and trust what is meant to come through in a way that feels supportive and stabilizing.


What I’ve witnessed is this: when grief is held in a safe field, the heart often opens to what it already knows: love is still real, and you are not alone in it.


Grief Comes in More Forms Than We Realize

Grief can also be present when you leave a relationship that mattered, move through a major life change, experience infertility or miscarriage, outgrow an identity, heal childhood wounds, or release a version of yourself you thought you would always be.


Reiki doesn’t categorize or rank grief. It responds to what is true in your body and heart.


What a Reiki Session During Grief Can Feel Like

Everyone experiences Reiki differently, especially during loss. Some people notice a sense of calm and grounding afterward. Others experience emotional release, deeper sleep, or a feeling of lightness in the chest or throat. Some feel more clarity or steadiness return. Some simply feel less alone.


Sometimes the shift is subtle but meaningful:

“I can breathe again.”

“I feel supported.”

“I feel like I can take the next step.”


That matters.


Reiki is not a replacement for therapy, medical care, or mental health support. It is a complementary practice that can work beautifully alongside them, offering another layer of care — especially for those who feel overwhelmed in their body or tired of carrying everything internally.


If you’re navigating grief right now, I want you to hear this gently:


You don’t have to carry it alone.

You don’t have to be ready to move on.

You don’t have to have the words.


Sometimes healing begins with being met.
